Salzburger Hütte

Cozy hut with traditional dishes

More than 140 years ago, long before lifts began running on the Kitzsteinhorn, the “Salzburger Hütte” was built as a supply point for hikers. As the name implies, it stands on Salzburg soil at 1.876 m above sea level, just a little below the “Langwied” lift station. Whether you make your way up there completely on foot, take a pleasant lift ride followed by a short hike, or pedal there on your mountain bike – the Salzburger Hütte greets visitors with a relaxed atmosphere, sunny terrace and a selection of traditional dishes including homemade Kaiserschmarrn and a classic “Brettl-Jause” platter of hearty hill-country snacks. With a little bit of luck, you might also be able to observe marmots here.

Tip: Overnight stay at the Salzburger Hütte – dormitories with mattresses for 15 persons available.
