Winter Hiking Trails

The Relaxed One

Start: 1,976 m above sea level
→ 300 m   ↑ gentle uphill

From the 3K K-onnection top station, the trail leads to an idyllic viewpoint. The view stretches from the peaks of the Steinernes Meer (Stone Sea) across to the Schwalbenwand and down to Kaprun and Lake Zell.

Bronze marmot sculptures make a great photo spot. Looking through the Viscope, you can see the names of the surrounding mountains. In the quiet area around the viewpoint, it's all about arriving, taking a deep breath, and simply unwinding.

Recommended gear ▸ winter clothing, sturdy footwear

The Extraordinary One

Start: 2,450 m above sea level
→ 400 m   ↑ 73 m

This secured trail starts at the Alpincenter and leads to a sunny plateau at 2,600 meters to the ICE CAMP presented by Audi, one of the most extraordinary works of art in the Alps (free admission).

On the roughly 30-minute walk through quiet, untouched winter scenery, breathtaking views open up again and again.

The ICE CAMP Trail is accessible from around mid-January to early April.
Recommended gear ▸ winter clothing, sturdy footwear, hiking poles

Tip ▸ Guided Snowshoe Hike

The Majestic One

Start: 2,925 m above sea level
→ 300 m   ↑ 25 m

From the Gletscherjet 4 top station, the trail climbs to a spot you won't forget.

High above Hohe Tauern National Park, the largest protected area in the Alps, you'll find an especially striking photo motif: a life-size bronze golden eagle. If you're lucky, the real thing will be circling overhead – on sunny days with strong thermals, your chances are especially good.

Behind it, the terrain drops away steeply. The view stretches across three Austrian states and to the peaks of Austria's highest mountains, including Grossglockner and Grossvenediger. Turn around, and the glacier ski resort lies at your feet.
